I may be on my way tomorrow morning on a 75 mile trip to buy a 52 Cub w/Woods mower for $1600. The guy says he just replaced the rings and lost interest, but has been using it to mow with. You think that's too much?? I just want it to fix up and sell, not looking to make anything out of it. Need a winter project. Any opinions appreciated.

Peabody,
Both Cubs and Woods mowers hold their value well. Don't think you'll get hurt. Main thing is that it's another great project. Have fun!

I have seen cubs in my area sell for about that in non running condition , and from about 1500-2000 running. ( without a mower deck ) if it runs well it sounds like a pretty good deal. These little tractors seem to hold their value better than the bigger ones.

Peabody,
doesn't sound bad if it has new rings & a decent working deck. If the sheet metal's good, i'd say it's a good deal. Put some paint & decals on it, & make some money. Cubs & A's/super A's bring good money, just like those dang N series Fords. All the city folks want them for mowing. Though between then, I'd go with the Ford simply for the 3pt. Neither have hydraulics.

Buy it. You won't go wrong.

Bindernut, I didn't quite understand when you said "Neither have hydraulics". Cubs and Super A's has hydraulics, and my Super A has a 3 point. The Super A's didn't come from the factory with a 3 point and I don't think they were ever advertised as a add-on, but a lot of dealers would put you one on anyway for a hefty price-tag.

I'm not sure how to post a picture, but I'll try. If it don't turn out, I could e-mail it to you. If you wanted to post it, you could. This is the only one I have right now.

Merlin.... Is the rockshaft on the fenders of your S-A used as part of the three point set-up?
Are you able to post some pictures of it?

Most Cubs in good working condition are going for $2000 or more down here in Georgia. They are in great demand.

Brad, WHERE in Georgia? I live in Northeast Georgia, in Elberton, Georgia. I sold a '49 Cub last year for $2,000. It had a rebuilt engine, spare parts and a very good set of cultivators - the cultivators were not worn out. I used the proceeds to buy my late father's / uncle's Super A for $1,950. I then spent about another $1,000 into fixing the Super A up.
