Problem: No remote hydraulics and no 3 point movement.

OK, changed filter and Hydro fluid. No effect.

Removed snap ring and pulled barrel shaped spring valve assemble from underseat (Pressure relief valve?) No fluid there, and started tractor, still no fluid seen.

So, next step is to pull rear pump, right?

Thanks for any advice!

If relief valve is bad you will have to replace it and no nothing else in there

I have TA, brakes, steering and PTO. When I took out the pressure relief valve under the seat, i didn't see any HEX piece, just a snap ring that held a flat piece with a flattened oval lug on it. But I expected to have some fluid well up into the chamber once the valve was removed and the tractor started IF the rear pump was working.

Was there something else to move or press in that chamber after the relief valve (Spring Ball Barrel-like assembly, approx 4 inch) was removed?

Adam The relief valve is not under the seat the relief is in the right hand seat suport from the out side if I remember right the 706 has 2 hex plugs in the right hand suport one has nothing stamped on it the other should have pressure stamped on it and it should say 1600 PSI. Under the seat from the front is the load valve this is an open center system so it needs either a load or an unload valve the 706 and new had a load valve unlike the 560 that had an unload valve, with the load valve as your 706 if it fails you will not build pressure were as with an unload valve if it fails it will stay nuder pressure which makes the system get hot. The load valve is not likly to stay on and creat heat. With the open center as you have a person does not need a gauge to tell if it is working because if you pull one of the remote livers it should pull the engine some you may not know how good it is without a gauge but you will know it is working, with a close center if there is no place for oil to flow the system will not pull the engine. So you have a problem , relief valve load valve or key in gear on pump or bad pump.

Found the 2 HEX caps, removed them, no fluid behind them. Rear one was a solid piece, the front one with various letters and numbers had a screen and snap ring, spring and was ported. Started tractor, no fluid poured out of either hole. I belive I will work at removeing the rear pump this am.

Thanks for all the help.

You will have to drain the hytran and the pump is on the plate below the left brake there are 2 plates below the brake the front one with the 3/4 hex fead screws about 8 or 10 is for front wheel drive the back one with a ridge in it is the pump the ridge is oil passage.

Found problem: Pump failed, one vane broke off and lodged between, both impellers ruined, unsure of aluminum housing can be salvaged.

Currently looking for a rear hydraulic pump for 706 tractor.

Thanks for all the help!

First thing if you have power steering and TA if the tractor has TA the drive plate is OK or if you have PTO. Next the pump is in the left side of rear end housing not in the middle of the tractor which is the TA housing there is a pump in the TA housing but that is for the steering brakes and TA. The relief valve is in the right hand seat supory from the out side should be a hex head plug with the PSI stamped on it and it should be 1600 PSI the valve you take out should have be the load valve and both can cause the problem you asked about. If the load valve o ring is bad or if the piston is bad the system will not load. If the relief valve is bad it will not creat pressure. Hope this is better help.Repost if you need more help.

the first thing to check is the pto , will i power something or not , i am guessing that it won't and the hdy pump is not in the middel of the tractor with hoses hooked to it , it is behind the left step down in the rear left of the rear end housing. There are two reasons that come to mind ( one that the pto input shaft that is driven by the pressure plate is plum slap wore out and is slipping ) or ( two you sheared the key on the pump or the gear has broken)..

Pull rear pump? The hydraulic pump on a 706 is located on the left side of tractor about roughly in the middle. There is a plate with two hoses/lines attached to it. Disconnect these and then remove the cap screws that secure the plate to the tractor. When you take the plate out the hydraulic pump will come with the plate. then you remove the 4 screws that hold the pump onto the plate. The power steering pump is bolted piggy back to the hydraulic pump. BEFORE doing this, you can test the hydraulic pump with a gauge that reads 1,000 to 3,000 PSI. You bush the gauge to 1/2" pipe thread and screw a standard pioneer male tip to this (assuming your remotes are standard Pioneer females). Then you simply plug this into your remotes and pull the handle on your hydraulic levers. The gauge should read about 1150 PSI give or take. If the reading is well below 1000 PSI then your pump is bad (this is of course assuming you have eliminated the relief valve and hydraulic filter as you had stated above). Sorry for the long post.

I have removed the couplers from all 4 hoses and ran the tractor and pulled the remotes and NO oil comes out. Should I still test with the guage?
