I am learing how to piece together a power steering setup for an H Farmall.
I have access to a Behlens motor. It will hook into the Belly Pump but will not be live with the cluth disengaged. So, I learned that a fella could go to a auto salvage yard and choose a power steering pump driven off the fan belt to be the power source and reservoir for the Behlens unit. Any ideas on what I should look for. i.e. F150 pump, Mazda pump, ...

Thank you all !
Now I am prepared to select a pump that will put me in business. I know I will have to fabricate a bracket, but armed with this information I can now design the system.

I will go along with the GM pickup pump. I did that for my M and it works great. If you have a choice, get a pump with as small a pulley as possible. This will spin the pump faster and give more output at slower engine speeds. I held the pump in place under the hood on the left side, took some measurements and fabricated brackets. I got a long belt and drove it off the water pump along with the alternator. Get an older pump with SAE fittings instead of metric. A hydraulic shop can make hoses. Doc

Charlynn or belhen units take 2 to 3 gallons, per minute and 1000 psi to operate. Look for a pump out of a 1/2 ton pickup or larger. A big hydraulic reservior on the pump is better than a small one.

I'd look for a chev or gmc from a larger truck they have a bigger tank on them so you have more to work with. To bad you aren't in Missouri I have a pouple laying around in my shop

You have the pumps, or the entire Behlens units?
