My question would be: If you are ordering new brake bands why not order them for a WD6? Your local Case/IH dealer could answer this for sure.

Just trying to ease my mind alittle I guess----when I went to get spark plugs for it right after I got it this summer I ask the parts man if he had plugs for a WD6 and he asked me what kind of a tractor it was because he had never heard of them. (IH dealer). 2nd trip back I bought an old plug with me and showed it to another parts guy and he told me they didn't have anything like that----I told him what the new number was and he said oh ya, we got them. In other words if I don't know what to check for they won't bother to look. Thks

Assuming your dealer is tied into the Case-IH computer network, don't ask the parts guy anything. Get a parts manual for your WD-6 and just take the number of anything you want. The computer will tell him if he has it, if the number has changed and the distribution center he can get it from -- simple.

Good parts folks are getting hard to come by these days. I'm so thankful for the ones I use. Yours must be transplants from some McJob via Vo-Tech school. A lot of talent has left many of the dealerships over the past years. I often stop and let the manager know how helpful and special his parts guys are before I leave the place. You know the old addage...Don't tell me, tell my boss!

Back in the early 80's prior to joining the military. I worked as a mechanic, parts man, and ran a parts counter for a salvage yard for a short time. I agree that it seems like some of the parts dept. personnel are a little short on initiative to look for some of the items if they are not well acquainted with them. But I have also seen more than a few that when you walk in and start describing your problem, they ask you the year or model and then hand you the part. I agree, a customer comment card or speaking with the supervisor or manager can always assist in giving praise or straightening out an employee that is not quite performing up to standards.
