I am looking at a OS4 I think its a 1946. Complete , not running, has antifreeze in it and someone put oil in the cyls. Rear tires are 20%, it needs fronts. The owner wants $900.00. Comes with a Dbl gang disc. Seems like a rare tractor, and I think it wouldn't take much to get her going. What is it worth? Should I add it to my collection?

I would try to talk him down some, but if he won't budge, go ahead and get it. The disc really doesn't add much value unless you were wanting one anyway.

According to the data book by Guy Fay the OS4 productionbegan on Nov. 30 1944 and went until Jan 13 1954. 1267 were produced. If it's a 1946 it should have the letter P in the casting codes. An example would be 4/12/P. You will find this code on the various castings. This one would be 4th day ,12th month, of 46.

According to my book, OS-4 started in 1949. I believe the W-4 serial numbers also covers the orchard models, so if you look under serial numbers on the left of YT front page, you should be able to narrow it down to correct year.
