Guys,

I've only owned 2 H's. The first one I had, I put in the popup pistons, etc. I didn't pay much attention at the time, just worked the tractor.

This H that I just bought runs great but it does not have this kit.

There is a huge difference in power. I've read that it is only a few horses, but it seems like a 50% increase. Maybe it's just me.

There is also a big difference in performance depending on which cylinder head you have. The head for the distillate engine will give lower compression.

Rusty,

This one is a '51 X1. Could it have the low-power head?

X1 means gasoline, it should have the high compression head, unless it has been changed. The high compression head is #8043 I think.
The other head is #8776. I will check my books in a while and make sure those numbers are correct.

I just checked my parts manual, those numbers are correct, also found a #6186, which is also a kerosene head.
