OK Guys, How about that wooden one for $3.00. Anyone ever used or even seen a wooden one. It's laminate but I'd be afraid of flying splinters.

Well, I've wondered about redoing one that way. I think it would be OK. I grew up with these things in the 50s. We needed a larger belt pulley to use on the MD to run the hammermill because the one we had did not run the hammer mill fast enough. My Uncle made one totally out of wood. It was solid laminated wood with the bolts through the wood to the pulley flange, I suppose turned on some sort of makeshift lathe. Never caused any problem and was used for years. These pulleys only turn at around 900 rpm, and I think the wood would work just as good as the paper laminate.

hummm, I can't see a thing wrong with it. Many of the old thresher pulleys were made of wood. Looks like it needs bought.

After looking at the pictures I'm not sure it is wood. Suppose the seller is just assuming the material is wood becasue paper wouldn't make sense to a novice? My nickel.
