I know a few of you have these 3 pt's and was curious as to your thoughts and/or recommendations. They are a bit on the high side and did not know if they were worth the extra expense. I will be using this for general bush hogging and light blade work (ie snow removal around the driveway). Any thoughts?

Griz

PS And yes, I did decide to keep and work the H. I got a working loader for $300 in excellent shape so now I have no excuse not to work it!

Best hitch I have ever seen. Very well designed and made. Guy makes them near Lennon Mich, in an old barn.I like the adjustment screw on both sides. Makes it easier to hitch up my implements. There is a way of pullin 2 pins to let your bushhog float too. It is a very heavy unit. The Saginaw guy will also sell you a valve to go with it, and advise you on how to hook everything up too. Best $600 I have spent lately. My 2c Irv

The Saginaw County 3-point is excellent. Have one on a Super M. Hooked up with down pressure. I can drop the backblade and lift both rear wheels off the ground. I couldn't begin to tell how pleased I am with this hitch. Definetley worth the money.

Have one on SM that my dad bought in 70s. When first bought it was used for hundreds if not thousands of hours on 4 row cultivator and heavy 7 ft. rotary cutter. After all these years it is still in very good condition has had one broken weld and that is only sign of any repairs being done on it.

Does the Saginaw attach out side of the original draw bar brackets? I think I looked at one and decided aganst it because it would conflict with my loader. Looks like it attaches in the same spot on the rear axel.

Kelly, Mounts on the original axle brackets for the drawbar. elimnates the parts that hang down from there. drawbar then bolts to 3 pt frame work. Have some pics here somewhere that i can send if you want.

Bart,

Another question: What category hitches are they? I can't tell from their pictures, but they appear to be bigger than most of the little hitches one sees.

Thanks,

Allan

For the H & M, it's cat. 1 and 2, the swivels are drilled both sizes..

The $625 price, does that include everything needed to hook this up or are there additional hoses etc needed in order to complete the installation? If it does not, what should I budget in addition for installation on a 49 H?

Griz,

I've got a Saginaw, and it seems to be a bullet proof hitch. You do get what you pay for.

As for budgeting for extra costs -- it ain't light, there may be a hefty freight bill on top of the $625 depending on where you live. Assuming you don't have hydraulic hoses running to the back - you'll need those also. The other big rub is that you mentioned you had gotten a loader for it.

How you going to run the loader separate from the 3pt? Probably no fun to have them both running up and down simultaneously. If you don't want to disconnect and reconnect, you're going to need a valve to route the flow from one to another, and so on. Figure another few hundred bucks for that as well, and you're probably close to $1,000.00 for the whole setup.

I was already aware of needing the valve however I don't think I will have the loader on unless I really need it. It's a fairly quick loader install so it should not be too big of an issue. I have hydraulics already ran to the back under the rear seat. Will the 3 pnt come with the hoses need to connnect there or will there still be additional supplies needed? Thanks!

Griz,
I think they still come with a yoke of hose to the cylinders, but Murphy's law says you're going to be missing something in the way of extra hose or connectors. Better plan on a trip to the hydraulic plumbing store for something or other.

Good luck with the project.

They are worth it... I put one on a Farmall 300, and a Super C, and would do it again.. There has been many discussions on these 3-points, check the archives for lots of past discussions.
