Having trouble with the carb on a 450 farmall. It started dripping gas everytime we shut off the engine. We took the carb off and cleaned it up with carb cleaner, etc. Put it back on and it will not start. After cranking the carb drips lots of gas for quite a while. Used the float setting out of the I&T shop manual and they are so much different than the original settings I stayed with my guess of the original settings as shown by a stains on the float. We checked the spark and it is ok. Anybody have any thoughts on this. Thanks.

The brass floats in these old carbs are subject to vibration and metal fatigue. I have replaced and repeired them. A $20 bill or a soldering iron should do the trick.

Make sure that the float is not hanging up on the bowl, things fit pretty close in there. Happened to me with an M.

if you 450 was running fine before I'd guess the float valve is leaking. Did you instal a new one? As far as the float measurement maybe you are looking at it wrong. or could even be a misprint in the manual.
