Hi I have a Farmall H I am going to overhaul this winter. I found a set of 560 lp 3 9/16 pistons fairly priced. I was wondering if I could remove my pistons and sleeves, hone the walle, then just put the other sleeves in. Would this work? I want to stock pull this a couple times and plow at plow days. Would it hurt to work it all day? What is the purpose of sleeves exactly? Thanks a lot.
Matt

The purpose of sleeves, exactly, is to make it really easy to overhaul an engine to like-new condition.

You can run pistons in the bores without sleeves just fine, pullers do it all the time. But when the engine is worn out again, you either throw away or pay a machine shop to put expensive sleeves in.
