I have a 706 and was looking for a wfe for it. I found someone that claims to have a wfe that he thinks was originally on a 806 but is now on a M tractor. Is this possible? Is there anything I should have him double check before assuming it will fit? He also says he has a wfe off a farmall 666 but he thinks the 806 one is better. Would the 666 work?

Thanks,
Matt

I just had the experience of putting a WF from a 656 (same as an 806 WF) on a 666. The 666 is supposed to have a different WF than the 06, 26, 56 series tractors. Most components of the two (spidles etc) are the same, but the 666 (686 too) WF has a different (shorter) yolk back to the support bracket. So, the holes won't line up with the holes in the 706 frame. You might be able to drill new holes (it's what we did with our 666) although you can have issues with the holes lining up perfectly with your engine mounts (we did). Going from a 666 to a 706 might be easier than the reverse, I don't know. I would do a lot of measuring before I bought the 666 WF to mount on an 06 or 56 series tractor. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it might be challenging. I might be willing to trade my WF for the one off the 666 depending on location and condition of the WF. Mine is in excellent shape.

So if I understand correctly, my Farmall 706 should be able to accept the 806 WFE without troubles but I would need to do some measuring and some drilling before the 666 would fit, correct? Does it matter if the 806 is a Farmall or International?

GP- I don't own the 666 WFE, it belongs to a guy I know in KY. I do own a WFE for a 656 Hi-Clear though if you'd be interested in swapping that. I have no use for it. (Click on the link for a picture). It's in NH.

Thanks,
Matt

Yep, wide front from an 806 Farmall would bolt right up. I think there may be differences in the wide front of a International (standard/wheatland) vs a Farmall, but I am not certain. I don't think IH ever made an 806 utility (just 606 and 656). The 666 WF will not bolt right up, you will need to drill holes for the rear support bracket (this may or may not be possible depending on location of the engine mounts). I have no use for the high clear WF, was just thinking if you were close by I could sell you my 656 row crop WF and buy the 666 WF, but KY is too far away for that to be convenient.

are tie rod ends and bolster and wish bone bolt holes. I just got thru changing a 560 and 806 front ends around and they are A FEW DIFFERENCES!!! Check it out good. The main difference is the 806 has stops on the spindle housing at the top and also on the steering arm. 806 steering arms are shorter so it will turn shorter and also the center steering arm may be different.
