Just saw a post on Tractor Talk about a 560 Propane. So here's my Question. I have a neat little H that I want to restore. I have a tank and Vaporizer setup to convert it to propane. Would this be a stupid move? I can't remember when I have even seen an H on propane.

Go ahead and convert it, after all, everyone has an H that runs on gas. I think it would be refreshing to see something different. Someday, I want to convert an H to run on diesel.

Nebraska Cowman,

Maybe more personal opinion than anything else -- but I wouldn't do it.

Here's why:

Propane isn't going to be a lot, if any cheaper than gas. So your breakeven point on fuel versus the cost of doing the job is far, far in the future.

Any "guru" in the distant future will probably be able to tell that it's not an original propane H (assuming there ever was such a thing). So it won't help the resale value, and may even hinder it.

...and now real personal opinion -- I spent hours pulling little dents, de-rusting, priming, painting and polishing the tank on my H. I think those tanks are a thing of beauty, and you screw up the look of the tractor by kludging in a propane tank. Like I said - personal opinion - everbody is entitled to one.

I agree with Steve I have only ever seen one propane tractor that looked decent and this one looked good. It was posted here some long time past. It was an M and done by a body guy that really new his stuff -looked a lot better than any factory job. Cowman if you really have to modify something, do something off the wall like an F-12 or Regular they look dorked up to begin with. (That should raise some ire!) Dick Davis
