An old farmer told me to stop fussing with a 6 Volt and but a resister for $10 and change to a 12 Volt. Is it that simple?

Hugh is right. The Super A was designed to work on 6 volts and will. Mine starts excellent on 6. Just get the electrical system up to snuff and it will work fine. Of course the engine needs to run correctly to begin with. I switched my 300 over to 12 volts and really spent that money for no real benefit. It starts great either way.

Steve: I supose I am starting to sound like a broken record, but your right on the 300, I once started my 6 volt 300 at -40F with no assists of any kind.

I currently have a 6 volt Super A and 12 volt 130 and a 140. I have not had the 140 in cold weather as yet. I will however guarentee my 6 volt Super A will out start my 12 volt 130 anyday, especially when cold.

Paul: If it isn't charging 6 volt, it probably will not charge 12 volt. It it is charging and you want a real fix, spend your money on a set of 1 gauge battery cables with soldered on ends and run the ground strap to a casting rather than sheel metal.

Paul,

It will run that way, but it probably won't charge and don't use the lights. To charge the battery, you'll at least have to change to a 12 volt regulator, and don't forget to change to 12 volt bulbs if you plan to use the lights.
