Found a farmall 340 along the road for sale today. It looks like a super C with the seat moved up and live pto and a TA. Are they any good? What would one be worth. There was no price, just a phone number.

I have a 340 farmall with a wide frontend, 2 pt hitch, live pto, power steering, two remotes, etc. I grew up around the H and the M. Have used a C a few times also. I love this little powerhouse. It has around 35 hp. It will handle most equipment thats around that was ment for the H. The sheet metal for this tractor is hard to find, so that would definatly make a differance on the price. The steering would be it's biggest weak point I think, so I would check that carefully. I gave 2500.00 for mine in 97. It came with a small disk and plow, and 3 pt adapter. It also had all the sheet metal and emblems. I'm in northern michigan. Only around 7000 340's were built, so they don't show up in a srap yard very often for parts, although most are still available from case/Ih. My advice; go for it, you won't be sorry. PUTTER

I have a neighbor who has farmed a few hundred acres for several years now using a Farmall 340 and a Farmall 766, this is a row crop, corn and soybean operation. The 340 was used for just about everything except for the heavy tillage operation. It pulled the 4 row corn planter with ease and would go places the heavier 766 could not go. Overall, I think the 340 is a very good tractor, and not as small as you might think.

It's a hybrid made from mixing a Super C line engine (now C135, 3 1/4" x 4 1/16") with a SuperH/300/350 style rear end. Medium sized chore tractor, 300/350 are heavier but definately out pull it in any heavy work.
