I have a Cub powerunit from a baler with right angle drive. What kind of clutch would have been on this for stationary work and where could I find one? Something like a Rockford?

I have a cub power unit with direct drive, old enough that it does not have a starter or a place for one. The motor is stuck. I took it in on trade for some work I did and I would like to get rid of, either a trade or a sale. I'll be glad to measure the clutch for you, also.

Yes I'm sure I have a Cub and I know what kind of drive I have now. I said I was looking for a clutch like a rockford to put on it instead of the right angle drive I have now.

If that is the case i would tear it down and see if the flywheel is drilled and tapped for a pressure plate then a rebuilt clutch assy will get you going call 1-888-828-3216 for parts

The power unit has a much different flywheel. You will have to replace it with one from a tractor. Three Cubs that live here have had that conversion. All are using a Rockford clutch.

The Cub power units used on 50T balers after 1947 didn't have clutches. They used a belt idler on the output for a clutch. The drive was direct from the engine to the output pulley. Look carefully and I think you will find the place for the crank in the center of the pulley.

I don't know if the Continentals used previously used the same system but I think so.

Tom:

Go to the link below. There are manuals on the balers which describe the power units. There are some other manuals that may relate to the power units as well.

I do know that I have a couple of manuals still to post that are on the U1 and U2 power units. These are parts manuals however.

Hope this helps some
