I have an M and had boughten a schwart wide front for it but today I found a factory wide front with the tie rods in front. I have heard that the factory one steers hard but I bought a Char-lynn power steering set up. So I guess my question really is what front would be nicer to have on this tractor? Money isnt the problem I am in the schwarts cheap and can pick up the factory fairly cheap.

Paul, I think it depends on the use of your tractor. The shwartz is a heavier made front than the old IH with the tie rods out front, but if the tractor is just for shows and parades and light work the IH front is original and will look good. Brian

I suggest you buy both. Use the swartz on your M then clean up and paint the IH one and sell it for more than you paid for both. = free wide front.

I have both one on an M and the other on a SMTA. I think that the Schwart looks better than the IH. I really can't see any difference in the way they work.

I'd think that it all depends on your 'goal' for the tractor. If you're just fixing it for yourself to use orputter around with, you've already got (I think) the Schwartz. If you're attempting (or might in the future) to go 100% factory, then go with the IH. Steer-ability is sort of out the window once you introduc power steering, I would think. I'm putting a schwartz WF on my 300 this weekend (if all goes well) as that's what I was able to find and at the right price. Had it been an IH unit, I'd have bought that. Of course, I'm not a stock restorer, just a fixer-upperer so that's my two bits. Zak
