Can anyone help me with the model of this tractor? Is it an A or B? I posted some pictures on the Smokestak engine page and the guys over there think it's a B. The seat and frame were replaced, so I have no serial number to work with. Yes, that is a tree growing up through the tractor, it has been there for a while! Thanks in advance, Greg

To follow up on my last post. It looks like you guys got a great deal Mr. Dills! My H is in better condition than your BN, but I would be just as happy with any old iron in that and worse shape!

The BN followed us home last night! My son and I arrived to pick up the tractor and the owner had her foreman cut the tree and pull it out for us. Although I wasn't able to take photographs of it coming out, she did save us a couple hours of work in the cold. We easily loaded it up and brought it home. My boy kept looking outside all night just to make sure it was really here. I found this tractor was less that three miles from our house. I will post some pictures of it after work today, thanks for your support of this project.

Here is another piece of equipment that a tree has claimed at this site. Just wait until I post pictures of 5 or more JD Model A tractors I found here in Nothern California (my back yard). Anybody interested, or should I past them to the JD page?

I agree - appears like a B with the correct single front tire setup. From the looks of the tractor I'd give more for the firewood in that tree than I would for the tractor(!)

Greg make sure to take a lot of digital pictures as you clear the site and pull the tractor out. That would make for a terrific article on how you saved a Farmall B from a tree!

Yes, I have been and will be photo documenting the removal and restoration of this baby. It is my son's first tractor, he can't wait to get it home (me either)!

I see you have the lower branches clipped. I spent almost as much time clearing the barbs around the JD4400 combine (and cleaning out the barbs growing through the grain head) then I did getting the darn thing started. "Revival of a John Deere Combine" in article archives.

I acquired my first old farm tractor, a 1952 H, this summer in a very similar deal. I helped an elderly gent that goes to my church cut, haul, and stack a large oak for fire wood. In addition, I helped rearrange some stuff in his barn. In exchange for my help, (if you can call it that, evan thogh I tried to reduce his workload, he still seemed to do more work then me, at least he was more tired than I.) He gave me his H, which has been parked outside for the past five or so years due to electrical malfunction. Hopefully, it won't be sized, and I can get it running without big money.
