C60 Oil Pressure Problems

I had my C60 engine rebuilt (new bearings, pistons, etc.) and am trying to get in running again. My problem is no oil pressure. With the engine cranking oil just trickles out the hole in the side of the filter cavity. I started the engine, no change. I took apart the the pressure valve below the distributor and just found assembly lube, and no sign of oil. I took apart the oil pump, and yes, the pump drive gear key was properly installed to the camshaft. Repacking the pump with assembly lube didn't help. Is there a galley plug somewhere that my rebuilder might have forgot to install?

I had the same problem when I rebuilt my cub, and all I needed to do was replace the pressure valve and spring. If the spring is weak, that will result in low oil pressure. If I remember correctly it cost about $15, and is probably the best place to start.

Someone left out a 1/8" oil gallery pipe plug. It is most likely at the left hand side of the gallery that crosses between the 2nd and 3rd cylinder. Pull off the tappet cover that is located behind the carb and you should see the hole with the aid of a flashlight. Very easy to do. There is another plug behind the front engine cover that is sometimes left out. You will have to take off the hood, front end, crankshaft pulley, and front engine cover to find that one. The hole will be behind the camshaft gear. There are several more plugs on the engine. You might want to put an airline where the pressure guage attaches. You may be able to hear where the air is escaping.

Yes, the gallery plug behind the tappet cover was missing. That was easy. But the one behind the camshaft gear is also missing. That will be more challenging. Guess my engine rebuilder wasn't careful enough to keep track of plugs, and I didn't have enough wisdom to double check. After I get it running I'll check the pressure spring. Many thanks for you helpful advice.
