I know its unrealted, but since were all talking about doing dumb things, or doing things wrong and getting hurt, Id chime in! I was tuning the carb on my retired racing gokart a couple years ago. I had it running, at idle, on the floor in my dads little shop. I was kneeled down behind it adjustting the carb. 1 had on engine felling vibrations, after adjusting screws, waiting to adjust some more. The other hand was wrapped arounf the fuel tank mount, I was leaning on. my arm slipped and touched the plug sending my hand and screw driver into the carb. The screw driver lodged itself in between the governer/throttle shaft assembly. It went WOT, with my arm still attached.
Like a fool, I didnt want it to go into the back of the shop so idecided to hang on, and try to stop it....Well its got a 5hp Tecumseh racing engine with racing spec carb and racing head..all the goodies. It took off like a rocket, I held it for a bit until I head a ripping noise from my shoulder, then a tingling chill down my arm, then a POP..I let go and it wen 2 feet into the bench where it stalled...go figure. My amr was now Hot ans swelling. I hobbled through the yard, into the house..I never wen to the hospital..(dont like em). We got it healed and I could lift weights again after 3 months. anyways...we all do stupid things, but looking back on what I did I can laugh...but when it happened there was no laughing!
