Polarizing my Cub

Unfortunately not. To polarize the generator you have to take off the hood.

I really don't want to have to do that every time I disconnect the battery when I am fixing something which is almost all the time. So, I thought about it and came up with a little fix. Kind of unorthodox, but it works.

I took a pair of Spae Nauer terminal clips (yellow ones) and crimped them onto two 12 inch pieces of #10 wire, which is what I had and connected them to the proper teminals. I then crimped on a pair of sleeves. Once I had them on, I put the hood back on and tucked the two wires out of the way. Now when I need to polarize the generator all I have to do is untuck the two wires and put a jumper between them momentarily. Voila!, no longer have to take off the hood.

obvious. I've had the old girl for almost 51 years now and I never thought of the obvious...

Thanks for the chuckle with your reply. Don't be too hard on yourself. It took me a while to figure it out. I still have fears the "Correct Police" will yell at me a lot, but hey, you can't see the wires. This way they also stay out of the rain.
