Have a 1466 with an airesearch To-4, is there any way to make it sound louder or run higher? Or without having to buy a kit. Also, did all '86 series tractors come factory with turbos, i was looking at used tractors on another site, and one said had an added on turbo, i thaught that once the 66's had them all had them.

i installed a switzer 3lm 466 on my 1466, and she will talk to ya now!!! when shes working hard she wont drop below 1800 rpms's, the only draw back is comeing off a stop sign, she's a little sluggish, till the turbo gets spinnin' then it'll put ya in your seat

Take the silencer ring off the turbo, then it will scream.

You could put a AR.100 exhaust houseing on it and turn it harder their not very expensive. If you where to put a different turbo on a 3LM 466 switzer is a good unit for a IH.

Yes you can make them scream just by putting on a shorter stack. 1086 thru 1586 came with turbos same with the 1066 thru 1566 also did the 966 and the 986 didnt but they can be added but you cant work them as hard then.

Well you could put a HolSet on or a switzer and the 1086 thru 1586 came with a charger but the 8 and 986 did not.

Actually, the Australian built IH 986 "B" series DID have a factory installed, turbocharged, German Diesel engine.

The AMERICAN made 986 did NOT have a factory installed turbo.
