I'm new to farming and want to know what kind/sizes of implements I should be looking for to use behind my 806.

I have 135 tillable in NE Iowa and my fields are small size from 10-40 acres. Most of my fields are hilly (contour) or are on hill tops.

What size plow, disc harrow, chisel plow, planter, etc. can this tractor reasonably handle?

Here in Central Indiana. We had an 806 Diesel w/all weather cab on our farm when I was growing up. Spent many hours running it. We used a JD 18' disk behind it and 5-16" plow. We had both a 6 row and an 8 row planter and a 13' grain drill. It did all this fine. Dad usually planted corn with the 8 row JD planter on the 806 and I ran the JD 3010 with the 6 row. We had a JD 55 combine with a 4 row corn head and a 13' bean table.

We farmed around 150 acres at the time. We owned 50 and rented the rest.

We never had any trouble with the 806 except it busted one of the cast hubs on the axle and that tire spun free with no pull. Had to limp it to the barn and dad had to get a new hub. It also threw out the drawbar pin on me once.. Not the pin that holds the implement to the drawbar.. The pin that holds the drawbar to the tractor. What a mess.. had just turned corner, dropped disk and whammo.. hydraulic fluid all over the back of the tractor.. an man did she just take off on speed too...Was running in 3 or 4th with the torque on high. It was a great tractor..

Where you're at, stay with a 4 bottom plow and a 14' disk. A 9 shank chisel will be all the "8" wants. Either a 4 or 6 row planter, depending on who will be doing your corn harvest.

On hill soil to stay in compliance with FSA on residue you shouldn"t be needing a plow only to plow up terraces for mantience'plows are cheap now 806 will pull 5-16s.I have pulled 18foot IH 480 disk, 8row 30 ''planter 8 Row 30 cultivator 24 foot field cultivator.Would not take long on 135 a.

When new several 806's in my area pulled 6x16's but most pulled 5x16's.Our ground plows decent. Most pulled 16-18 ft disks and 12-14 ft chisels. It will play with 6 row equipment.

Since you wont be farmimg much go for a 4x16 plow,14 ft disk, and 12 ft chisel.

I use to pull a 4 bottom 16" 3pt plow in low 4 on flat ground and low 3 in hilly ground at 1900-2000 rpm's in mostly clay type soil. Pulled a 15 ft. disc in low 4 and high 1. No fluid in back tires but had six front end weights.

Best bet is become good friends with the neighbors as they know the soil types and what crops you should grow.

i'm in eastcentral sd, it all depends on what kind of soil you have. last fall i pulled a ih 4 16" semi mount breaking up alfalfa just fine. i could have had some weight on the 806 (had nothing on it). as far as a planter goes it should pull a 6 row corn no problem, maybe even an 8 row.
