I am really embarrassed to be writing this. But has anyone ever poured oil in to the air cleaner by mistake?? or on purpose (by mistake)?? I did, and realized my mistake during quart #2. I removed the oil cup and let it drain a while. My question is, did I wreck anything?? and/or will I do any damage when I run the tractor?? Is there a fire hazard from the exhaust temperature, or the oil that gets into the muffler?? I appreciate any advise...

Doubt that you hurt anything. Let it drain for awhile. If you put enough oil in, you may have got some in the carburator that you may have to clean out.
Might blow some blue smoke for a little while when you start it. Shouldn't hurt it though.

Hi Red Dave,
Thanks for the info. As long as I can't start a fire or blow it up I'll relax....thanks.

Im confused..Maybe its different on a C..

You put oil in the bottom of the air cleaner, thats the filter. You also put oil in the engine.

Are you saying you confused the 2 openings (breather and intake) and while intending to add oil to the engine you poured it into the air cleaner?

If so, thats funny, not damaging, but id drain the carb, as oil probably got into it.

Its ok, Today i sat at a green light for 25 seconds revving my engine before i realized that the shifter had been bumped into Neutral...lol
Thought Id blown the tranny...lol,, corvette trannies are expensive..so Iwas pretty pale!
