Try mothballs. AMny have mentioned this in different forums.

Otherwise, try a .22. I like cats. But, they area a non-native animal roaming wild at this point. They are a varmit, and nothing better; they are not a pet.

Well I see that they are your cats and you probably would not want to do this... but...I bought a farm a few years ago that had been pretty much abandoned for over 10 years. Cats had moved in from the neighbors and were everywhere. Well I did not think shooting/killing the neighbors cats was a good idea for public relations...so I borrowed a paintball gun and let fly(discreetly). Orange spotted cats started appearing all over the area... much to everyone's mystery :) I overheard one woman at the local country store complaining that her cat had come home and gotten orange stuff all over her sofa. The cats stopped coming to my place after a couple of month of this. Plus it was fun :)

I think maybe a you salt the area with a big bag of moth balls. I think those cats will find another place. Maybe that cat litter box you put somewhere convenient. Maybe works, maybe not. Worth a try? They sure won't eat it.

Even though you said, "WITHOUT KILLING THEM", I will have to vote with the majority. 28 round burst. ;]

Buy a box of ground red pepper and sprinkle it around on the gravel. Cats and dogs can't stand to sniff it and will avoid the area. Has worked well for me in flower beds and gardens.

A little FYI, off topic, If you are having a problem with Squirrels eating your birs seed, out of your feeders, put some ground red pepper in with the seed. Birds cant taste it, they can eat habanero seeds and be normal, but squirrels...hehe cant stand it, dont want any part of it!

By far the best way to avoid cat problems is to avoid cats. But now I have packrats and could use one old wild cat to keep them in check. Seems every time I do get a cat he is only around for a few months and then I never see him again. So I go into town and buy more rat bait.

Cats don't like water. Keep a squirt gun or hair spray water bottle handy and if you catch one of them going in the gravel, spray them with water. They should run away cuz they don't like getting wet. BUT be sure to have the litter box handy somewhere else and occaisionally pick them up and set them down in the litter box. They should get the idea. Additionally, if they are freindly, you can give them positive reinforcement. Each time you see one using the litter box, give them a treat when they get done. I have done this on my cats and it has worked for me.

My cat doesnt like for people to watch here go...We had to get a covered box, or she would never go if anyone was nearby.

Bob, I have a Ruger Model 77 22/250, works good. All kidding aside, we have one inside cat and thats it. When we had outside cats, nothing but problems, they bring other cats who sprayed everything from my old Farmalls to my rollaway, skunks came looking for food on and on etc. As others have said, a concrete floor helps but not a total cure.

I agree with Farmer Bob. Once the cats start using the litter box you can move it a couple of feet every couple of days towards the door until you have them outside.

Then you can pour some ammonia over the spot they were using to discourage them from coming back. But you might want to do that at the end of the work day. :-)

I dont think ammonia would help, due to the fact that cat urine is very high in ammonia

Van is correct. A simple lead injection will fix the cats.

I have found in the past that this behavior in cats is caused by a lead deficency in thier diets.

Short of pouring cement over the graveled area, try placing a litter box with regular litter in it over a spot where the cats have done their duty. Keep the litter box cleaned out so they "Want" to go in it instead of clawing a "New" spot in the gravel. If you have a hard headed cat, only time will tell if this works or not. They can be pretty persnickety sometimes.
