I am tracking down a stutter in the 460H, it has a 263 6 cyl, I removed the dist, disassembled it, cleaned it up, I found that the rotor has a hloe burned through the tab to the center of the dist cap. and the Mechanical advance was sticking. I intend on running about 3000 rpm with this engine, (safety is being observed) I put in lighter springs in the advance, I know it works for the H-M to speed up timing at acceleration, My question is this,, On engines that run higher rpm have a differnt plug gap, or different ignition timing than what the books say? I was thinking about the truck IH 6 cyl specs, But i have none on those, I also noticed the method for setting the timing is differnt than the H-M, The I&T manual says to set the timing at full throttle, at 25 deg adv. Why is this method differnt for setting the timing on the 6 cyl? I am leaning alot from this 6 cyl, It is the first IH 6 cyl I have tinkered with, and learning more every time I try to work on it. Any help or comments would be great,, Thanks, Chad
