I recently purchased a Super M LP serial # F 15466 C .I would like to know if this is a factory LP and how many were built .Also,is the battery located under the seat on this model? Any information would be appreciated.

I have a gas SM that is an early super m witht he rounded front instead of the boxy like front for cultivator mounts. Its serial # is 18360, so yours is probably an early super m or, as they have called it, a stage I super m.

LOYD, From what you have said about this tractor it is a Stage II Super M - LP.I assume it also has live hydraulics (pump is mounted in frount of the distributor). There is a resevoir under the tank. Many have 3 outlets to raise and lower Rh,Lh,& Rearmounted implements.
OBTW....There are Stage III SM. Technically...they are SMTAs, W/ LPTO...factory converted to LP. Has a long wise tank, Tank has a single multi valve, instead of a bunch of different valves in a row, like the conversion tanks. There were only 500 built.
Hope this helps,
John A.

Basicly, if the tank is crosswise it is a factory LPG, if the tank is longways it is a conversion, if it is Stage I without live hydraulics the battery is under the tank, if it is Stage II with live hydraulics the battery is under seat. I have not checked your serial number which would also show year for Stage I or Stage II. I just stated simplest difference to easly tell factory vs conversion LPG on Super M's and Stage I vs Stage II Super M's.

I am not sure on the cross wise, long wise theory of factory vs conversion tractors. I believe my Stage III to be factory and it has the long tank. I don't know.

All factory SMLPG's had the crossways tank unless for some reason your tank was changed later on.
