I have seen a 1256 gas, although I am pretty sure it was a diesel since there were no true 1265 gassers, but if you took the 301 out of an 806 or 856 I bet you could put it in a 986 if you wanted to. That's almost enough I'd like to see if someone could maybe go to that dealership or give them a call to get the low down on it. Interesting, a gasser in an 86 series tractor. Wouldn't sound right, ha ha ha.

A gas engine was never avalible from the factory in any 86 series tractor (other than a 686, but that's not really a true 86 series), but if someone really wanted to do it, they could. It probably wouldn't be too hard if you used the engine and frame rails from a 766 gas. If you get a chance, check it out and let us know if someone actually did it.
