I am having trouble getting the axle out of the bull gear. The inside bearing and the outside bearing retainer slide out, but the axle seems to be stuck on the bull gear and inside bearing. Does anyone have experience with this porblem? thanks, Greg

The bull gear is splined to the shaft. That should not be the hang-up. Unless you have a press you are forced to beat it out of there.
If you have a torch you can warm the casting around the inside and outside bearings. With
a 6 or 8 pound mall it will come out of there one way or another. You may want to replace the bearings if the beating becomes too severe.

Greg, take a piece of brass stock and hit the axle end with the bolt screwed back in minus the big washer. It will take a few good hits with a BIG hammer so be patient. I just had my A apart and had the same problem. Good day.

Thanks, I posted this call for help after doing just as you recommended. Maybe I'll give myself a little more time to recover from this darn cold and attack it again. I'm probably not up to full strength yet, but I did use a VERY BIG hammer repeatedly.
