What are the differences between a regular Super AV and a Super AV Industrial? How many Super AV Industrial models were made and what serial numbers were they made. Just wondering as I saw the A Industrial with the square front and my Super AV has the square front, not the round front like the rest of the AV's. Also, was the Super AV Industrial painted Yellow also because mine was red from what I can see. Thank you

Tom

IH would paint the tractors any color you wanted. I just traded a yellow SA Ind to a man in La also I have a red SA Ind for sale on YT and I have a International SA Ind that was painted yellow at one time. They all have a foot acclerator, square front axle with a brace from the axle to the bell housing and they did not have a belt pulley. They also made an A Ind. The International SA Industrials are rare there was only 838 built

James: Think you best check those figures, there were thousands of SA industrials built. I know Guy Fay said 838, then he questioned his own figure. Updike says in the 5,000 range. I don't think he is right either. Super A Industrials are just too common.

Thanks guys, my mistake. I saw a model SAV-I on the site under Farmall models and thought I made a connection with the square front axle. Oh well. Hopefully the motor will be ready soon from the machine shop!

Tom: I believe there is a thread from a couple of days back, and I think it was Harold H, a former dealer said," the square axle was an option on all Super A." I think you will find AV and SAV gain their front end height from larger front wheels rather than longer spindles.

Hugh: I wasn't sure myself so I just went to the shop to measure and here are the results. The A and Super A use a 15" tire and the spindle housing is 12" long. The AV and SAV use a 19" tire and the spindle housing is 16" long.

I've been working on the SAV today and I thought that the spindles were longer but I wasn't sure so just went and measured.

Sure do appreciate all of your knowledge that you share it has helped many, many times.

John: Thanks for that as I wasn't absolutely sure on the spindle item. Was there also another spindle length for these. Somewhere in my past I have seen an offset high clear with 15" wheels. This one is a bit fuzzy, but I'm thinking Farmall 100, 130 or 140. I have seen all of those with 19" wheels as well. So I'm thinking if there was a high clear with 15" wheels, it must have been an option.

The reason I ask these items, is my 130 is far from being original anymore. The SA and 140 are reasonably close. The 130 however is my work horse, my snow plow, my plowing tractor. I am in the process of building a 2x14 steerable semi mounted plow for the single point fast hitch. I plan to put 13.6x24 tires on rear. I'm now thinking a set of those 16" spindles with 15" tires will make tractor sit level. I had been thinking of putting 6.50x16 front tires on tractor. I am also looking at best way to beef tractor up to C-135 engine. This may not happen as I find myself not quite as committed as I once was.

Sorry - I can't answer as to wheather there were other lengths of spindles. These two are the only ones that I have seen.

Big John. Thanks for that input. None of the manuals or literature made any reference to longer spindle shafts on the av's. Only the HV and MV series. While I don't have an AV, it is good to know and I'm sure that you answered the question for a lot of others.

I can be corrected, but I don't find an Industrial AV or Super AV in my books. Apparently the square axle is an option. I don't think IH would make an industrial high clearance because many International (industrial) AVs were sold to highway depts for mowing on slopes, etc, too dangerous for a high clearance tractor. If your tractor has International on the side, not Farmall, and if the serial number prefix is IAAV instead of FAAV, I suppose it could be called an industrial, but I believe your square front axle is an option.
