I've got a 340 farmall that gets run about four times a year. This time it won't charge. Good battery, wiring, cables and fairly new reg. I usually take the cover off the reg and close the contact while running and its ok. This time when closed the contact it went to discharge, just like it was backwards. Oh yeah, I am using pos ground too. I know the gen is good too. could use some advice. Thanks

You might have to re-polarize it,i know you have to get a wire and touch a tab on each side of the gen,it should spark.i lost the paper on what tabs to touch, someone on here will tellyou how if that is the case. If you touch the wrong tabs then the gen is screwed. hope this helps

To polarize momentarily touch the BAT terminal of the regulator to the A terminal of the generator before you start the tractor. Hope this helps.Chris in Semo.

Do you mean to disconnect the bat and touch it to the a or use a jumper to touch the two together? Thanks

I think you do not connect the battery, cause you need some kind of electric flow to spark it, I don't remember i did it early last summer.go to a dealer and there is papers in the new generator boxes, that tell you if you have to dis connect the battery or not.
