My friend has a Galion E-Z Lift grader, serial 1154, with an IHC industrial engine with serial number 10007. Is there anyway to determine the year or the size engine with the serial number? I have pictures of the engine, but I don't know how to post them on this site, but would be willing to email them to anyone who thinks they have an idea. Thanks.

Since I grew up about 15 miles from Galion,Ohio where that thing was made,I've seen alot of Galion graders over the years. They used the I-4 and I-6 engines alot. These engines are the same as the "H" & "M".The Galion Ironworks is out of business todayThe last I new it was owned by Komatsu.

That grader likely has a bigger engine than was used in any tractor, maybe the same as used in some of the dozers or trucks that IH built. Is it gasoline, or is it a gas start diesel?? How many cylinders??

Larry,

Once you figure out which tractor your engine matches, it's number will fit approximately into the series with the tractor serial numbers. It is those engines that cause the tractor serial numbers and engine serial numbers to be mis-matched.
