Hi guys,Nice weather EH! Man is it cold, there are drifts out there as tall as me,almost 6 feet tall. The schools are closed till thursday, even with exams. But i still have to do school cause i am home-schooled.Came home from workin in the pig barn at noon, the boss dropped me of with the 4x4 GMC.Almost got stuck cause there is about 3 feet of snow at the end of the drive way. Don't have any thing to plow with yet, that is my summer project. The neighbour has a 4255 JOHN DEERE{sorry for swearing} with a big blade on it.I guess it is better then a ford right Hugh?

The swearing is a joke from a guy in glencoe ont, every time i said i drove a 7810 deere,he said don't swear in this tractor,it was a 8940 case ih

JD Tractor: It just gets sent along to us from MI, WI, MN, MB, ND, SK, MT and they claim it is an Alberta Clipper. We just don't bother to slow it down. If you happen to go to the Tractor Talk page, group of guys there out on the praries developed that 2000 hp tri directional tractor. the force from that machine is enormous.

I will say this when I got up this morning and the east wind has continued all day. Seems like you guys in the east are may be sending it back. So here in SW-ON, MI, WI and MN we are just caught in the middle.

Farmallkid: Now just hold on here a cotton pickin minute. Any tractor and operator that comes along and plows or blows the snow from this guys driveway is a good tractor and a even better operator. This 62 year old carcas has been abused a lot in it's lifetime. When this offer came along, and it did come one night from a good neighbor, via the telephone. I quite frankly had enough of this blowing snow. Now I fully realize the Farmall 130 was up to the task, thus I said it was willing, the flesh was not. Having said this, it really doesn't matter what color the tractor is, if it will blow snow from a heated cab, don't knock it.

Now just think about it, 26th day of Jan, we are in SW Ontario. just 6 weeks away from some nice weather. Going to be the earliest spring in a decade. March will come in like a lion and out like lamb, and we will never look back.

Farmallkid: Don't mind me, I'll let you in on a secret though. Back in my farming days there were about 8 major companies in the farm tractor and equipment business. Of those 8 brands of the 60s and 70s, I never saw a tractor that didn't have at least one feature I liked. I have also yet to see the perfect tractor. They were comming close in the early 80s then they added all this troublesome electronic junk. You can't profitably farm with a tractor that requires a $75. per hour mechanic every time some little problem occurs.

My point is this, equipment is only as good as the dealer service you have, that guy right in your own hometown. This was always true and now with hi tech even more so. It doesn't matter what color you paint it anymore, they are all close to being alike. For better or for worse I don't know, fine if the powers that be can keep the economy from falling apart. I'd hate to go through a session like the dirty thirties with a post 1980 tractor of any color.

Farmallkid, we're having a blizzard today, the winds are from the east and that is always big trouble. I get a kick out of our local forecasters, they are always talking about ALBERTA CLIPPERS, COLORADO LOWS and todays storm is compliments of OKLAHOMA!!!!! , yes this storm came out of OKLAHOMA across the midwest and is coming across ILLINOIS and up the OHIO valley into southern Ontario, we had roads closed this morning. I went to the farm and did the chores about 10ish, then I saw a pick up sideways down a sideroad, went down and pulled him out with my old Dodge4x4(1980)..I drive a GMC 2001, but on stormy days that old brute of a power wagon is my weapon of choice. Yes my American friends you are getting blamed for this storm....who do weather forecasters in Oklahoma blame?...A Washington front..an Oregon backdraft? a British Columbia flow??..isn't it interesting how these weathermen/women come across...anyway I don't know if Hugh was out on the roads today but we had roads shut on Thurs and Fri all over southern Ontario and today is just as bad, I'm guessing schools will be sending kids home early. Anyways Farmallkid keep 'er between the tops of the hydro poles and you'll get there...Mike in Exeter Ontario

At least it sounds like you are getting some moisture out of it. We got about 6" (15 cm) yesterday. When thats melted down it makes less than .3" (about .5 cm) of moisture. We need about a meter of HEAVY WET snow in our part of the world-its really DRY! Cold & windy today so its getting re-arranged, big time. (My $0.02 worth. jal-SD)

Mike, down here in Maryland alot of our storm and your storms come from the great state of Texas. With a little bit of Canadian air and moisture coming from the Atlantic cost.I'm just sitting here taking it on the chin. And farm boy keep restoring them,it dosen't matter what color they are.
