Hey guys--you may want to contact this buyer to see if he'll take a dozen or so at this price. Check out item # 2591944154--I already sent him an email and told him that he probably won't have any competion. I think he's bought this one. Of course for some folks, buying it on ebay and paying for it are two different things. On the other hand this fellow could be a millionaire and he just has to have it--period....

Kevin, I'm not implying that the tractor and equipment is not worth the $6,000 current bid, but seeing a first bid that high with no reserve, and the bidder having no previous history, I wonder if the bidder is a scam artist. Seller beware in this case.

I dont think this is a scam in the true form of a scam, but I think the seller has created the opening bid.NOTICE THE SELLER , AND BUYER HAVE ALMOST THE SAME EBAY I.D.

Tractorhead, You may be right, The seller may be covering his donkey, As hugh wrote, that if the equipment is good, the price isn't out of line, as the Tractor by itself if sound mechanically will bring $3,500 or more in most circles. I'm just saying that the bidder, unless it is the seller could have started a lot lower since there is no reserve and bid up to where it now is. If he is a scammer, I think he has met his match as the seller isn't about to be taken in, as is apparent by his pay and delivery/pick-up parameters.

I am amazed that a person will spend 1500.dollars on a Murray mower that is made out of tin and wont give 1000.dollars for a good tractor.I am not a expert on off-set tractors,I mowed about 2 years with a 140,and used a SA for about 5 years pulling a hay rake, wagon, and plowed with a one bottom 16 in and these 2 tractors were probally two of the most dependable tractors and all around tractors Ive been on.

Where can you get a tractor with all that equipment for $6,000? It may seem worth it to a guy who wanted and needed the tractor and equipment. That's not a bad lookin tractor but the description doesn't say much about what parts are in the restoration. Hugh is right, the equipment is where the money is. I would also wonder a bit, as the bidder has absolutely no history on e-bay. A newcomer comes to e-bay and lays down a bid at $6,000? I suppose it could happen. The tractor appears to have been put up for auction with no reserve as it does not say reserve met or not met. So it almost looks like a starter teaser bid placed by someone on behalf of the seller. The guy wants 6,000 for his tractor and equipment but it looks better in the form of a bid. I could be wrong as I almost am, always always. You just never know on e-bay. Good luck to the seller.

I showed that auction to someone who knows e-bay better than I. The seller opened the bidding at $6,000 when he first listed it. Seller got a bid soon after. Opening bidder is only required to meet the opening bid so his current bid is equal to the opening bid but will go higher if someone else bids. If you check the bid history the bid amount for wsc8110 is shown as a dash. There is an undisclosed amount behind that dash. The e-bay system will automatically increment his bid if someone else bids, but not to esceed the undisclosed amount. That's how they do it so you don't have to watch an auction 24/7.

Kevin: I have most of the same attachments with my Super A and can tell you he is getting a bargain. You can come to my place if you want to talk business, but you better have $10,000. and some loose change in your pocket. At $6,000. the buyer could recover his money in two weeks off those attachments and have the tractor left over. I kid you not, I could sell a dozen sets of the mounted cultivators at $1,000. each. By the way the tractor is worth $1,500. with the standard drawbar. Those 1 point attachments are a sellers paradise.

Kevin: I don't doubt one little bit what you are saying. I have a Super A, 130 and 140 and 14 attachments. I have in my lifetime bought and sold 3 others to acquire attachments. It has taken me 45 years to acquire those attachments. If I count my time traveling the country side, rebuilding, fabricating I probably have $15,000. in those attachments. I will never in my lifetime nor will my son ever recover that should we decide to sell. He seems commited to finding the other 3 tractors namly A, SuperA1 and 100, plus there are a few more attachments we would like to find. We do however have a Scottist heritage. I never think of even advertising mine, I wouldn't stoop as low as what that guy seems to be doing.

Hugh,

Guess I didn't notice the list of attachments and I also wasn't considering the resale aspects--just as if someone were buying a tractor for use on their farm or property. I mentioned the item because it looked a little "funny". Someone else mentioned the similarity of the seller/buyer ID numbers--that adds to the mystery. I watch ebay sales pretty close and this one "jumped off the screen". BTW, the buyer never answered my email--could be the buyer and seller are one.....

John: I didn't say I would give $1,000. per set for them. To start with they have to be in top shape to bring that money. You cant have broken pieces, pieces missing or egg shaped holes for pins. For that reason I find I almost need to stumble on them for the dime per dozen.

A guy asked me the other day, value of a certain machine. I point out one weekness that particular machine had. Since it was a mower it had also a lot of wear parts. I suggested he check out price on all those wear parts. I said your mower is worth price of scrap plus new cost of the wear parts you don't need. Cultivators, plows, disks, blades, etc. are all thr same way.

no offense in kentucky where they are still plentyful and were used in tobacco production-I can run ads and buy all day long for 1500 dollars perfect no but that leaves me 8500 to improve.

The tractor does look pretty shiny! I would rather buy an excellent Super MTA or 450, or even two super m's at that rate. I would have a hard time paying that kind of money for that tractor, but I guess it matters how much you need it. thats my 2 cents.

Robert: I will give you a tip on why Super A, 100, 130, 140 and indeed all small tractors sell as high as they do. They don't break the bank account when parts are needed. There are more large tractors parked around North America, in a broken down state of some nature. They are parked there because the owner is either unwilling or unable to spend the money to repair them. Why were they bought? Because they were cheap. Why were they chaep? Because no one had any use for them.
