I recently bought a 1945 Farmall A. Got it running and drove it around the property a couple times and parked it in the garage. A week later the reared is locked up and there is some noise from the driveshaft/tranny. Noise goes away when the clutch is in and the PTO shift lever is locked up tight. PTO isn't engaged and you can spin it by hand. It was -10 around here last night. Any help is appreciated.

A friend of mine had that same problem in an H. My dad told him he had water in the rearend. Let it thaw, then drain and refill with fresh grease. This may be a solution to a simple problem. I hope it's a simple problem! Good Luck!

The brakes could be frozen too.

Gtet your BBQ and fire it up under the tractor with a tarp over top of the tractor. Leave her all day and then drain out and replace the rear oil.
