I just got my radiator back from the shop saturday and got it set in the tractor. I went to put on the replacement springs and they are longer than the originals and I cant get the nuts on the studs with the springs on there. Are these really all that important? For now I just have a couple of washers and the nut holding the radiator in. Are there any tricks with getting the springs and nuts on the stud? It is a '52 H. Thanks in advance. RayA in OK

Thanks for the advice guys, I ordered a radiator mounting kit through a reputable company. The springs might be 1/4 to 1/2" longer than the old springs and are a little narrower so I will probably try to put a washer on top of them. The old springs still look like they have good spring in them, but were a bit rusty so I wanted to replace them. I think I might be able to unthread the studs a bit and maybe get the nut on the stud. I thought that there might be a "trick" to it that someone would know about. I guess I will just have to grunt a little more. RayA

How thick are the rubber pads between the radiator and the tractor frame? Just a thought.
Also your old springs are probably shorter because they have become compressed over the years.
I think the springs are important, you need something to help absorb the vibration.

How much longer are they? Can you back the studs out a bit to get the nut started? Then maybe double nut the stud to Get it back into the radiator?
