Hi folks, my father and I are putting the finishing touches on a '49 Cub. The Generator we have may not have been the original, but we think it is 6 volt unit. I just wanted to ask if one of you guys could say for sure. It is a Delco Remy
model no. 1109603 serial no.8m8. This tractor was left out doors for many years, but has very few hours on it. the sheet metal is great. We had to put intake valve inserts due to pitting from rain water coollected in the head. The rest of the engine was like new. We had to buy a few parts, such as muffler, seat, headlights, decals, etc. But we only payed $300.00 for it. After a full restoration I think we got a good deal. Now it joins a 1953 JD 40C and a 1953 Golden Jubilee. all fully restored. I realy love the little Cub. Thanks, TimT

The part number you posted is for a starter- the correct 6 volt one for your tractor. Do you have a number on the generator?

Thanks guys, I am sure it is a 6v. And I messed up, I was talking about the generator. I know the starter is a 6v. We had it running today for the first time. Rough, but we used the old ignition parts. The mag is good, like new. So we got a set of plug wires , cap, rotor, and new plugs. Tommarow we will put the sediment bowl and new fuel lines on along with new belts, and try again. Then it's just decals and a new seat, muffler and ready for parade and show season. I think we will have a lot of fun with this one!! Tim.

Dont know which one your talking about, the starter or the generator? But regardless,if its original generator,it would be 6 volt, could have been rewound for 12,but likely 6 volt.Starter wont care either way!IF it had a battery in it,even though it was old and probably no good,if it had 3 caps, its a 6 volt,6 its a 12.
