hello everyone,does anyone know if a 56 300 is 6 or 12 volt? also what kind and how much oil goes in the t/a and tranny? thanks all....

Manual says 7 gal. trans/diff. combined. Hy-Trans ONLY!!

It could be either now, came in 6 volt but could have been changed. If it has a genarator its probably 6 volts, but if it has an alternator its probably 12 volts

The 300 had 6 volt systems. Would suggest getting an Owner's Manual either from the Marketplace Links to the left of this screen or at your local Case IH dealer. The manuals have all the original specifications for your tractor and has Lube guides and light service procedures. I purchased a 560 Farmall several years ago, and although I grew up with one and many other Farmalls there is still valuable information you can use.

Are you guys sure about the Hy-Tran in the tranny? I thought these used gear lube? Isn't the XMSN basically the same as an H?

Hy-tran is a little too thin- you'll be grinding gears trying to shift, because everything is still spinning. A heavy gear oil is the best.
