Wondering what the fast-hitch implements and model numbers were for the rowcrop Farmall 340? Thanks in advance.

The 340 has the same rear end as the 350, so it should be the same as the 350, 460, 560, etc. fasthitchs. It is the Super C and 200 series tractors which have the smaller prongs. If you rummage back a few months in the Implement Photos section, I posted some pictures of my 350 fast hitch setup with a model #100 mower.

I should try to clarify. Fast-hitch equipment was made for several models of tractors, my ? is if I, for example, were reading a sales bill and they listed a model number, is there a source to check for compatability with a 340, vs. a 560, etc. I went to an auction last week as they listed a seven foot FH blade. The blade was six foot but I purchased it anyway, as the helper said, 'they are hard to find'. Earlier in the day a FH mower sold, don't know how much, model was, I think, 100 or 101? Can't remember for sure. Thanks.

Al: I see where you are comming from on this and there are a few problems with model numbers. In many cases auctioneering firms and seller often don't know the model number. Most fast hitch implements will work on a 340, the limiting factor being size I mentioned in earlier post regarding plows, disks and cultivators. Often disks and cultivators will use same model number for all. For example the IH model 130 disk, available either in fast hitch or Cat II 3 point hitch and as 7.5', 9' and 10.5'. 5 possible disks all same model. Same with the mounted 45 cultivator, either fast hitch or 3point hitch and available in sizes from 8.5 to 18.5 feet. To complicate that even further there was also a model 45 trailer, and that one went all the way to 30' width before production ended. Plows are a bit different, just a couple of examples C-25 and C-35 two and three bottom respectively Same with 36 and 46- 3 and 4 bottom. Then to throw you completely 531 and 541- 3 and 4 bottom, 211 ans 311- 2 and 3 bottom. The only thing consistant on the plow is one diget in the model was the number of bottoms, but then that is quite obvious anyway. IH didn't even follow that rule of thumb with bigger plows in the 5-6 bottom range.

The very best thing to follow is 340 at about 30 hp so 2 bottom plow, disks will require about 1 to 1.25 hp per blade and cultivators about 1 to 1.5 hp depending on type of tooth. Depth of tillage will affect of all tillage tools. I like to favor the smaller size as it assures you can do quite deep tillage if you wish, and for the part timer he is not looking for production in acres per hour.

Al: Like CNKS said fast hitch implements were not designed for a specific tractor, other then you have to match size to hp class. 2 bottom plow, 7' or 8' disk, 7 foot mower, platform carriers, 8' cultivators, 2 row crop cultivators, rear blade 7', etc. You name it and you can fabricate it, just match it to tractors hp and weight. I have 15 implements for my SA, 130 and 140. 70% of them I have fabricated.

IH made a couple of different sizes of 2-point fast hitches, so whatever fits the hitch can be used on several different tractors -- you match the implement to the size of the tractor, implements are not necessarily 340 specific. I don't know much about the 340, so someone else can tell you what it will handle.
