That sleazeball, who used a picture of my Farmall 400, closed his eBay auction early. He used a below market "Buy-it-Now" price of $2000. Hopefully, no one bought it and is so foolish as to send a check sight unseen.

He either got the picture from this site's Tractor Photos (unlikely) or used a picture that I emailed to him last week. If the later, he has several accounts at eBay.

Go back one page and you can see more info on this scam plus a few links. I hope eBay doesn't die from all the user abuse going on over there.

I sent the seller a nasty email this morning. Don't know if that prompted the early closure.

I went to his feedback page and looked at the things he bought and one thing was some male enhancement. I think he must have used it to much because it would take alot of balls to sell someone elses tractor. Theres a guy dissing
the Zane thang on the N board and he is using a picture of my tractor. I don't like it but at least he ain't trying to sell it! I sell on ebay and it's jerks like that that make it hard on everyone.

Hopefully you emailed the bidder/buyer as well? Ebay?

Unfortunately, the guy who bought it will never see it. I bet he requires a few hundred buck down payment within a few days of the auction close? Sure, then he will make up a bogus address and pocket the cash. Probably only takes cashiers checks too 'cause he doesn't trust anyone (Go figure!).

Is this the one?

wardner, Out of curiosity, what was the sellers feedback rating? Ususally if they have been engaged in sleazy practices, it shows up on the feedback. Some of them, however keep changing identities more often than they change underwear. I've bought a few items off E-Bay, but would never buy from a seller with no history or a history of bad feedback.

I would be pretty angry had I purchased a tractor based upon a picture of another one. False advertising. He must be a used car dealer!
ha ha!

One account is perfect. His wife's (?) account is 88%.

I have a feeling that the original thread opened yesterday was written by the seller. He also opened a thread at Red Power Forum. He only has 3 posts over there. Haven't checked here yet.

No, I did not contact eBay. They are overwhelmed. About a month ago, they let an English built aircraft carrier reach $90,000,000 dollars after a week of bidding. They finally deleted the item. Furthermore, I did not want eBay putting any restrictions on my account because some feeble minded account representative can't figure out whatsup. That happens alot at eBay and Paypal.

It's not possible to find the buyer on a single item "Buy-it-Now" auction until feedback is left. On a multiple item "B-I-T" auction, you have to be a buyer to get access to the other buyers at time of sale. I will be checking feedback on this auction for the next couple of weeks and let you know what I find out.

The seller recently bought a chineese made MTA radiator on eBay for $200. He may have a tractor similar to mine.

No, Wardner, I'm not the individual trying to sell the 400. I found it interesting that a 400 with an electral accessory was for sale so cheap, so I thought I'd bring it to the attention of the board. I thought I'd seen that picture before, but didn't realize where until I read the responses to my post. I've bought items for a 400 on ebay as I have one I'm restoring. I read the board here and on Red Power Magazine nearly daily, but seldom post unless I have a question.

Many people selling on E-Bay use others pictures, right or wrong. That is why you see items for sale on E-Bay with things like initials, or other ID marks on them, so someone else cannot use them.

The picture on eBay was a Farmall 400 with an Electrall. The Electrall probably doubles the value of the unit. No mention in the ad that the generator was not included. The picture was meant to deceive. The "Buy-It-Now" with a three day bid period is also suspicious. If you read the previous thread, you will understand that the seller doesn't deal straight.

Moreover, buyers of used equipment do not want to look at any ole facsimily. They want the real thing. Ad copy from IH would be just as useless as the picture of my tractor.

The point here is not whether I have a copyright on the picture. The impropriety of the eBay ad reflects on the integrity of the seller. He has none.

Good find Charlie. I am guessing the check is already in the mail. I emailed the buyer to give him a heads up. I suspect that he has already read both threads. I hope everything works out for him.

Ebay rules if it was not represented entirely and correctly, the transaction is void. Happened to a buddy a year ago....
