What is the major difference between a RD and a roosa master pump? Used to have an 806 RD started well and pulled like a bear. Went to a 1206 with a roosa master and would not start as well.

I have the same 806 that I had 33 years ago and then it had a RD Pump and now it has a Roosa Master. The tractor pulls better and smokes less with the roosa master pump. I have several roosa-masters and have had them overhauled and they always ran better.

The RD pump was I H's owen and was a far better pump as one pump could be used for all of I H's engines just by changing from a 4 cyl head to a 8 cly . head and adjusting the fuel rate , the only problem with the RD pump is the ft. bearing and if it gets to loose it whipes out the head and since I H closed the plant down that made it over a stike they went to the rossa master as a pump sorce . If the pump on your 1206 is a littel hard starting then i would think that the head pressue at cranking speed is weak and that the timeing is off or your comperssion is down or your injectors are not cracking at the wright pressure.
