Here is one more thing about the tractor it sits in Texas & i am in Michigan so i would have to add shipping to the cost of the tractor.
I would really like to have a Farmall Super H & i am very paciant about restoration, but with all that this is missing,travel/shipping,parts availabillity & money on hand what would be a reasonable price for such a unit as this.
What would i be looking at & the difficulty in getting all that is needed in putting her back to show/work use?
I do appreciate all of the input it is helping me out on the decision. If it would by far exceed the cost of getting one that is more complete by the time all is done, i think i will let this one go to someone else.

Yes, it does look like a Super H, but at that distance, I would pass. (But then I already have one) If recent rear tires, good rims and a running motor I would consider it if next door. If not running (especially at that distance) you have to assume the worst in the motor and tranny. With 20,000 of them out there you should be able to pick one up closer to home. You could afford to spend a little more w/o the trip and you might even find a Stage II? On the seat, it's not necessarily the wrong one. In 50 yrs who knows what's been swapped out, but I seem to recall (didn't double check it this evening) that the parts book still was calling the pipe style seat standard and the hydraulic seat an extra cost option on the Stage I's.

Hey Ed, theres a SH" for sale in the classified section of YT and its located in Michigan. Sounds like the way to go from what you are describing otherwise. Andy

Except for missing gas tank $50, battery box $80 and bent muffler $25 it looks fairly straight to me. Might find someone willing to trade for correct seat if not another $75. If tractor runs and drives good it might be better buy than some of the pretty painted clunkers you see. Could have this one painted and looking good for a lot less than cost of a complete engine overhaul. Do not know what it is worth though.

Pass on it, unless you want to pick it up for a parts tractor for around $400.

Ed, Can you look under the right spark plug side of the tractor on the head, it should have a casting date with a "Y" or "Z" following that date code. Also look on other parts of the engine for these codes. This will establish thet the engine is from a SH" as well as the rear end. Even if its a SH" its a stage I and they are not as desirable as the later Stage II. 750.00 sounds high for this model. Good luck, Andy in Ohio

I just took a look at the pictures, if I was you, I would forget this one, it is not original. The serial number shows it is a super H, but that seat is from a very early non super H. If you really want this one, offer the guy about $300 tops. If he refuses, walk away. $750. will buy a complete tractor just about anywhere.

Yep, the serial plate, and having disc brakes shows it to be a Super H, and the seat is off of an early H. But I do agree with you, way to much money for this piece of junk, $300.00 is plenty for it.
