MD question

I am having a rough time getting a MD to run on diesel that I just purchased. It runs on gas real nice but when I switch it over it will run for about 5 seconds then shutdown. Being I just acquired it I drained the fuel and added new fuel and also replaced the filters. Upon opening the filter housings I found out there were NO filters, AAARRGGGHHH. Could this have done enough damage to the pump or injectors, thus not delivering the fuel with enough pressure to let it run? Fuel is getting to the injectors or at least to the bleed outs. Any suggestions or thoughts? By the way the head appears to be good with no compression in the radiator or white smoke when running on gas.
Thanks
Corey

Make sure that you have bled the system well. The aux. filter takes a while to fill, Then with the engine running on gas advance the throttle, but don't op[en the compression lever. Bleed the main filter in this mode then switch over to diesel and crack the bleeders at the injectors, one at a time until there is no air. There is also a screen on the pump itself which should be cleaned when you change filters. Good luck, Geoff

Open throttle all the way up, if this doesn,t help the fuel rod that controls the plunger might be stuck. Or the starting valves might not be closing.

on gas?

Were did you purchase this tractor? There was one advertised in Wisconsin but I was a day late and a dollar short. They were asking only $500.

grg1938,
it wasn't out of WI, I have a couple in various conditions that are not 100% running. It was actually posted on the YT implements area because I had a loader on it that I sold. It should be in the old photo adds if you are curious about it. Contact me directly if you have any questions.
