I recently saw an adv. for stuff called "Color Back" in a magazine and was wondering if any of you guys had any experience with it .Supposed to restore the pigment on faded paint and money back if not satisfied.Lasts 2Yr.
Is this for real or just something else to separate a poor farmer from his money.
If it works it would be cheaper and easier than a paint job.Info. appreciated.

GOOD STUFF. I use it all the time. Probably doesn't last two years, but if you have paint left it will bring out the shine.

NOTHING lasts two years if it sees any sun. Two months is more like it, don't really care what it is. I'm not saying it will look like 20 year old faded paint after only two months, but it will fade unless it is inside all the time. There are many products on the market. As one post below says, you need an abrasive -- Either buy a two step cleaner-wax, or get some Turtle Wax polishing compound or equivalent, or for more abrasiveness, Turtle Wax rubbing compound (be careful or you won't have amy paint left!) and follow it with wax. I assume you are talking about old enamel paint -- don't use any of this stuff on base-clear, or you might not have any clear left. Always try a small area first to see what it does.

There are a number of color restorers on the market, Color Back being one. I have seen it, and may have even used it at one time. Can't remember.

Most of the finish or color restorers are very mild rubbing compounds which, when applied, get rid of the oxidized and faded surface of a paint coat. Most have protectants built in the mix.

I was a heavy user of a product called Star Brite many years ago. I think it's no longer made, but it worked great. It would even remove tarnish, very light rust, and small tar spots.

I have used Color Back on a '91 Bronco and a Collins 5th wheel. Both had oxidized to some degree, Bronco the worst. I had very good results without excessive effort to apply. I think the two year life span is optimistic by twice but it isn't hard to do if you don't wait too long (as I did). I still use it, just not often enough. Pete
