The only time this happens is when I am pulling my tiller tool and get it bogged down. When the tractor really pulls hard (barely moving) there is a grrring or grinding noise coming from the rear end (first gear). Any ideas????

It might be described better as a popping noise or a clicking.....hope this helps in the diagnosis.

Bigred1, is you tiller a rotory tiller running off of the PTO? I was wondering if it was , could it be bearing on the PTO shaft. Another thought is the first gear worn somewhat that would give it a growl. I have an H that growls under load in any gear, I think it is just the nature of the beast. There are likely some guys that can explain rear end noise better than I..good luck from Mike in Exeter Ontario

It is a 9 point tillage tool (not rotary)....The sound maybe more like a poping or clicking sound, if that helps any...Thanks.
