1.i replaced the needle valve in my super C and when i have gas in the tank it flows out the the tube that goes into the air cleaner, I also replaced the gasket is this usual? should i just shut off the gas at the sediment bowl?

2.i want to have an electric start, is it possible for it to start with a key, and have the starter start with a solenoid. what wiring would this invlove and how would i get the distributor to fire accordingly with turn of the engine, how can i make sure the spark plugs are getting power from the distributor? it is a twelve volt system with a key

Be sure the float is adjusted correctly and is not hanging up on the sides of the carburetor. Some of the newer viton (sp?) (synthetic rubber like stuff) needles are not as good as the old style in my opinion. That type of leak is sometimes hard to stop completely, and I just shut off the fuel. Mine just leak out the weep hole in the bottom of the carb, you have a larger leak that needs to be fixed.

You need a service manual or the sheet that comes with a carb repair kit, as I don't have the Carter specs handy. You adjust the float up or down by bending it at the tabs that attach to the pin that holds the float in the carb. There is a recommended measurement in inches, but usually, not always, the float is supposed to be parallel to the throttle body, when the throttle body is upside down. This allows the float to hang down to the proper level to regulate the level of gasoline.

Well, my C came with a Key start, with a solenoid on the starter, ans 12V system, Im in the process of ripping it all of. Putting on a Saddle mount Starter switch, Replacing Starter Rod, lever, whole thing, going back to mag ignition too.

Nothing wrong with Magneto, Why do you use a distributor? Anyway, take the Dist. cap off, and turn the engine over by hand until the cylinder up front is at TDC and the Rotor button is pointing at it. If you cant do that, switch the rotor button 180 degrees >:)!!

Later C's and virtually all Super C's along with the rest of the later letter series came with distributers, mag was an option. Nothing wrong with the mag, it was just phased out on the later tractors.
