I got this Regular in pieces .I'm now putting the engine back together and the manifold will only go on with the muffler "bulb" on top and not down below the carb like I'venormally seen and with adrain plug where the bulb usually is.If not put on this way the carb won't bolt up and the bracket for the governor rod is on the back part of the engine .Is this some after market manifold? The part # on it is 1477 D.

That manifold is the gasoline conversion manifold. Attached is a pic of a NOS one that I have. They are a pretty rare attachment, and quite unique

Justin- thats it! thanks for the picture-1000 words etc. I aassume that there is enough room for the bulb muffler under the hood or was there another muffler mattachment used? My bulb muffler seems to have been on this manifol for some time.

As this manifold combination is actually not listed in any parts catalogs that I have seen, I can only assume that this attachment is listed in a service bulletin or parts merchandiser. This manifold isn't listed in any master parts indexes that I have either. Is there a part number on the muffler?

There is no part#.It's just the usual bulb type muffler you see on Regulars except on this manifold its upside down and on top.
