This is my first time posting this type of update here on the YT Forums. I have seen that a number of Cub owners frequent this forum as well, so I fiugred I may as well post the updates here as well. Hope you find it usefull.

Finally got some time and my head cleared up enough to finish a couple of little projects.

Main page modified yet again. Don't worry John, I set up a new sub-page called Cub Manual Server Milestones. I intend to add stuff as we hit new and ever more important milestones in the life of our infoserver....

Blue Ribbon Service Manuals - have now all been updated with an HTML document. Some will load fast and some will take time ie- GSS-1411 - 215 pages or something like that. Thank God that they are all relatively small jpegs.

This should help in browsing the manuals. Feedback would be nice, especially seeing as I am going to try and put the whole server full into HTML files.

Oh, PDF's are on the way as well.

Links have been updated as well.

Specialty Services is a new page and will require info from all of you as to your favourite suppliers of those hard to get items for our Cubs. Decals, Fasteners, Powder Coatings, specially manufactured items such as hydraulic blocks (Bill????) etc., will be included here as the info comes in. I will try to glean as much from the archives as possible, but that particular search time is limited as to the volume of material I still have to scan, format and post. So, I will be depending on all of you for this section.

Please all, take a good look at the Maintenance Tips and Techniques section. Feedback here is a real important tool. What all do you think. We have been fortunate in that a number of very knowledgeable Cubbers have donated their time and talents to produce these articles.

I am really hoping that as each of us get into a particular project/rebuild that pictures and a narrative could be compiled for inclusion in this area.

George, Art, Dave, JD... thank you very much for all of your efforts. In my humble opinion they are really top notch additions to our info database.

I have a whole bunch more stuff that I have to scan -- ooodles actually and they will be uploaded as time and my health permits.

TIA guys for the feedback.

Jeff, I think there is a little confusion here! Rudy is not associated with Yesterday's Tractors, this website or our servers.

He was speaking of his own server - somewhere else - which provides great information about Farmall Cubs.

I saw your post "Too Much Ebay" in our Tool Talk forum. Ebay is a great place to find stuff! I personally collect antique dairy equipment and have purchased my share of butter churns there from all over the world.

Hi Rudi,
Nice job you're doing. As I own a document imaging bureau I feel reasonably qualified to comment on what your doing and the only thing I'd say is to consider converting everything to PDF. The jpegs are OK, ,but you may as well standardise on one output format. I know I'd much rather download a single PDF than 60 individual jpegs.
I think for online document distribution it's the best option out there.
Just my thoughts..... ...good job though.

You are right on the money. We are working on PDF's, but have to have some other way for the dial-up guys to have access. Some of these PDF's are humongeous. Have not figured out yet how to keep a 215 page manual down to less than 20 megs!!!!

e-Books are possibly and answer, but I got to figure out how to do them. Until that occurs, I am pretty limited to what I can offer on the server.

Thanks for the input though, and again you are right on the money

Well unless there's colour on the manuals REALLY need to keep you should scan in black and white at 200dpi and create tif files. This way you should get an image size of about 60k. Much smaller than a comparably jpeg (which will record colour information even if there isn't any colour - so they're pretty big.)

Weel, I guess it is kind of complicted. It dates back to my military service. I was a 291 Communications Research Op in the CAF and my nickname has been spook for years. It is also spook291 cause a lot of people on msn have the nick spook, so I combined that and my MOC for my own uniique nic.

The fig represents Secret Duck - Daffy Duck's cousin I guess - used to watch Secret Duck when my kids were little about 20 years ago. It was the only avatar I could find for a while that I even liked, so I have used it for almost a year now. Most people know me by the avatar.

How to do it. Well the avatar gif is on my server, so I just use the Optional Imarge URL box at the end of the message.

so then do u just put the URL 'address' in the "Optional Image URL" box at the bottom? how do u get it at the top and do u have to type it in all of the time? thanks...it is always good to learn...

Yup:

I put my server address in the Optional Link URL line and the Cub Manuals in the Link Line and that gives you the Hyperlink to click on.

Then below that in the Optional Image URL line I stick in the path for my avatar - for example in my case I would use this:

Link

Once you have typed it in, usually windows will remember it. All I have to do is hit the w key when my cursor is in the Image URL box and up it pops, then all I have to do is click on it and it gets inserted into the line..... easy as eating mom's home made apple pie!

Hope that helps.

Go ahead and use Secret Duck... Secret Squirrel would be a good one too!. I cannot remember where I found him, somewhere on the net that supported avatars..... ..

I think it is kind of useful. There are so many folks out there that an avatar can be useful to differentiate between people with like names...
