If remember the following, you cannot go wrong. Applies regardless of vehicle ground polarity, or whether your equipment have two 2 x 6 volt batteries, one 12 volt battery or a combination: 1) RED jumper cable - connect ONLY to battery (+) terminals (or to grounded metal for positive grounded equipment) 2) BLACK jumper cable- connect ONLY to battery (-) terminals (or to grounded metal for negative grounded equipment) 3) On 2 x 6 volt battery systems NEVER connect a jumper cable to either of the two battery posts that connect to each other! --- Now assuming your 560 is positive ground (one 6 volt battery's (+) terminal is connected to the frame, and the other battery's (-) terminal connects to the starter), and you're jumping from a vehicle that's negative ground, hook up your jumpers as follows: Red jumper cable: From grounded (+) battery terminal on 560 to the (+) battery terminal on other vehicle. Black jumper cable: From hot (-) battery post on 560 to grounded metal (engine block or frame) on other vehicle. (For safety make the block/frame ground connection last.)
