To sort out the differences, the most important differences for a farmer of that era were the 5 or so more hp, and the faster 3rd and 4th speeds. 3rd in the Super H and 4th in the H were about equal at about 5 mph, while 4th in the Super H is nearly 7 mph.

Some of the lesser known changes were the ignition switch was moved to the electrical box. The fuse was moved to the left side of the box and the ignition switch to the right of the fuse. The voltage regulator was moved to the right side of the bell housing. The starter switch was taken off the stearing column and put on top of the starter with a pull rod for starting. Sealed beam head lights. Longer rear axels. Faster 2nd, 3rd & 4th gears. Horse power increase from 26.2 to 33.4 HP (according to Nebraska Tractor Tests). By the way, this hp could be increased to approx. 36 hp with IH Fire Creator Pistons. About the same hp as the Farmall M when it first came out! '54 Super H's had live hydraulics. Plus all the other changes listed in the link.

Farmall H's were made from 1939 to 1953, the Super H was the next in line from 1953 to 1954. The Super H had a bit more horsepower than the regular H. These days Super H's are harder to find here in Canada anyhow because of their short production timeline and they are of course a very popular collector's item.----Jeff in Ontario
