I am in the process of replacing the ring gear on my H. I am at the point of splitting the tractor. I have removed all of the bolts that are obvious (one that holds the ground strap and four on each rail), but it does not want to come apart. Is there another fastener that I have overlooked? (That is what it seems like.) Or should I get my big hammer out? I tend to be cautious unless I know I am on the right track. Thanks in advance for your advice.

I had the same problem, it's a wonder I didn't get the big crowbar out! Like 42 said, there is one behind the starter. Get that one and I bet it slides apart.
Good luck
Paul

There is a bolt behind the starter. You have to remove the starter and then feel around in the starter hole to get to it...

There are two bolts on the inside of the clutch housing; up high on the left & right sides. My son & I had the belly pump removed and went up through that opening to get at the "hidden ones".
